Decide when screenshots are appropriate
Before enabling screenshot monitoring, define the business purpose and explain the policy to employees. Some work can be reviewed through completed tasks and timesheets alone. Teams handling customer or confidential information should examine their company settings and data handling practices before choosing a capture policy.
Configure capture and visibility
Company settings control screenshot intervals and the available blur option. Use assigned permissions to decide who can view screenshots and reports. During a trial, check the actual captured output on the computers your team uses. Blurring changes the captured image; it should not be assumed to remove every piece of confidential information.
Review screenshots alongside work records
A screenshot represents a sampled moment, not the full workday. Compare it with the recorded session, task assignment, breaks and activity counts before drawing conclusions. Keyboard and mouse counts do not record the content of typed keystrokes. Application and website reporting is a separate source of context and depends on company configuration.
Plan retention and employee communication
Decide how long screenshots are needed and configure the available retention controls. Give employees a clear contact for questions and corrections. A software setting does not replace your company’s policy or any obligations that apply to employee monitoring. Ask for a demonstration of capture, blur, authorized viewing and retention before rollout.
